Sovern Spaces

    Organizations, Workspaces, Programs, and Studios

One of the first things you'll notice in Sovern OS is that work doesn't live in a flat list of projects. It's organized into Sovern Spaces, distinct contexts that mirror how organizations actually structure themselves. Understanding Spaces is key to understanding how Sovern OS adapts to any organizational model.

    Four Types of Spaces

Every Space in Sovern OS is one of four types, each designed for a specific organizational context:

    1. Organization Spaces

The top-level entity. An Organization is your company, fund, studio, or program umbrella. It's the root of your data boundary, all users, workspaces, and configuration live under an Organization. When you sign up for Sovern OS, you create an Organization.

    • Owns all data, users, and configuration

    • Defines the entitlement plan (which layers and features are active)

    • Contains the Organization Overview dashboard with KPIs, financials, and team metrics

    • Can have multiple Workspaces underneath it

    2. Workspaces

Workspaces are scoped areas within an Organization, think departments, teams, or business units. Each Workspace gets its own set of layers (Impact, Governance, Finance, etc.) configured for that team's needs. A startup might have one Workspace; a venture builder might have a dozen.

    • Scoped layers and sections tailored to the team

    • Independent navigation and sidebar configuration

    • Team-specific roles and permissions

    • Can contain Studio Spaces for bespoke workflows

    3. Program Spaces

Designed for accelerators, incubators, and any organization managing cohorts. A Program Space links participants (who each have their own Organization or Workspace) into a shared context where mentors, stakeholders, and program managers can track progress.

    • Cohort-level dashboards and milestone tracking

    • Scoped access for mentors and external stakeholders

    • Aggregate reporting across all participants

    • Independent from participants' own data, they keep sovereignty

    4. Studio Spaces

The most flexible type. Studio Spaces are bespoke environments created with Sovern Studio, the visual tool for designing custom operational workflows. Need a client portal? A due diligence room? A board management space? Studios let you build exactly what you need.

    • Created with Sovern Studio's visual editor

    • Custom navigation, sections, and layouts

    • Granular membership with admin/member/viewer roles

    • Can be templated and reused across the organization

    Navigating Between Spaces

The Space Switcher in the sidebar lets you move between any Space you have access to. Organizations, Workspaces, Programs, and Studios, in a single click. Each Space maintains its own navigation state, so switching back puts you right where you left off. It's like switching between desktops on your operating system.

    Why Spaces Matter

Most platforms give you a flat hierarchy: projects inside an account. That works for small teams but breaks down when you're a venture builder managing ten companies, an investor overseeing a portfolio, or a program running three cohorts. Sovern Spaces give you the structural flexibility to mirror your real organizational topology, without sacrificing the shared context that makes Sovern OS powerful.
